Basic looking site containing accurate transcriptions, with full bibliographic details, of published reviews, commentaries, correspondence and news items concerning Gilbert and Sullivan operas published during the lifetimes of the authors. It suggests that 150 years ago reviewers did indeed command an extensive vocabulary, and that readers and theatrical audiences were perhaps more inclined then to artistic sophistication than now.
